Last week the girls were introduced to the concept of symmetry. They were each given a gingerbread man and a frog and had to find a line of symmetry in each object. When they completed that challenge, they had to find lines of symmetry in 6 different shapes. The girls really enjoyed learning this new math concept. Here's your challenge; look around your home for different objects and ask your daughter if she can find a line of symmetry.

New Author of the Month
Our new Author of the Month is Robert Munsch! Last week we read The Paper Bag Princess and the girls had to sequence the story on their own paper bags. This week we read Stephanie's Ponytail. The girls had to create their own unique hairstyle and write about why they are special. It was a wonderful book with a great message. Make sure you ask your daughter about it!

The girls learned all about President's Day on Thursday. We read Sweet Land of Liberty and discussed the meaning of liberty. The girls brainstormed what they would do if they were president and they each made their own American flag.

Frozen Food
Last week the girls learned that one of the reasons animals hibernate is because it is extremely difficult to find food in the winter. Check out our video below of an experiment that the girls participated in that showed them just how hard it must be to find food when it is freezing outside.
